TWWS Open Day Report Cavalier
2010
was held at the Angel Centre, in Tonbridge and once again it was a success.
Despite the Monsoon conditions at the beginning of the day, we had over 500 visitors
through the door.

Following the event we had a number of messages from people who had enjoyed
the show.
From a contented
grandmother
Dear All
From a Grandmother just to say how much we enjoyed the Show.
It
was very well organised and there was plenty of room to walk around and
see the games and traders. Having been to quite a few shows around the
country I think it is one of the best.
Our
2 grandsons loved it and everyone made them feel very welcome. In fact our
youngest aged 6 told everyone about his "best friend" who was the
gentleman dressed from the French Indian Wars. He spent alot of time with
them explaining about the maps and weapons, and a present of a musket ball
each, typical boys thought it was great ! The oldest grandson sold some
figures in the bring and buy and then had great fun spending his cash on
scenery etc.
The
funniest event of the day was when we visited the Polish/German wargame
where again the men explained things. On the field was a dead cow on its
back. One of them was taking photos of the battlefield and after being
persuaded by the youngest grandson he took a photo of the cow for him.
How's that for going beyond the call of duty!
We
all had our bacon/sausage butties but missed out on the last piece of
chocolate cake and we all know who got that !!!!
Thanks for a very enjoyable day.
Well done everyone
Cheers

Hi
Alan,
Just wanted to write to let you know how much fun we had on Sunday, it was
a brilliant location the perfect table and a very well attended and run
event. We think we may have got a couple of new recruits from the show. A
long drive home for some but well worth the trip, everyone was so warm and
enthusiastic at your club, it was a total pleasure.
Can't thank you enough.

Alan,
I
am sorry that I did not get a chance to say goodbye yesterday afternoon,
and to thank TWWS for putting on another excellent show to effectively
start the 2010 campaigning season for the south of England. As usual, I
probably bought more stuff than I can find the time to paint, and took
away leaflets for buying other bits via the net, but that's part of the
hobby.
Can
I also extend the club's thanks for judging our game the best demo game,
out of what, to me, was a very high standard anyway . As you know from our
previous games, the intention is to always talk to visitors and
fellow-gamers about the period and the rules in use, and we were
sufficently encouraged with the reaction to get our's published on the net
as soon as practicable. We are looking forward to taking the game to other
shows and hope for the same reaction there.
Needless to say, if invited to Cavalier 2011, please take our acceptance
as understood!
Best wishes, Richard Partridge for Southend and Rayleigh Wargames Clubs
From Forge Games
Hi
Alan,
many thanks for putting on Cavalier the other week. I always like shows
where there are lots of people to help load/unload my car and your guys
were superb!
I
had a horrible return journey though - managed to become stuck in a
traffic jam on the M25 for over an hour :(
Despite this I would like to trade at Cavalier in 2011 if you will have
me.
Please pass on my thanks to the club guys who helped me load/unload.
Regards,
Phillip Clarke
